About
My practice is based upon drawing; it is the first port of call in my artistic process and is how I make sense of the world and express myself most freely. It forms a part of my memory and gives me great joy.
I have always been fascinated by detail and complexity. I often feel a deep urge and compulsion to represent what I see.
Observational drawing is a key part of my practice. I am elated by the sense of discovery and understanding by looking deeply at a subject and representing it on paper.
I am inspired by natural and built environments; the interplay between them has featured in my work.
I am drawn to subject matter through my emotional responses to light, colour and form. Finding beauty in unconventional places is an ongoing explorative aspect of my practice.
