Chi Park is an artist and illustrator based in London and South Korea. She graduated from Kingston School of Art in Illustration/Animation. She has since worked as a freelance illustrator in London and completed her year at the Royal Drawing School in 2023.
Her work spans various materials and subjects, but they are all tied together by a sense of playful energy and spontaneity, delivered through tactile engagement with analogue materials. She frequently uses my sketchbook for daily observational drawings, capturing and transforming ordinary moments into creative opportunities. In her studio, on the other hand, she explores the possibilities of the imagination and memory. It is where her keen observation meets wit, crafting a playful perspective on both fiction and reality.
In many of her works, she enjoys using narrative framing and experimenting with textures and geometry. Unintentionally, she keeps her images ambiguous, evoking a sense of something - a sense of isolation, alienation, or anonymity – which opens up a lot of space for viewers to make up their own minds about what they see. Lately, she has been experimenting with combining graphic, flat digital shapes with organic hand-drawn lines. She finds it fascinating when shapes and lines that seem very flat and graphic meet organic, hand-drawn lines. The combination of the different visual languages adds intriguing contrast and tension to her work. Ultimately, she wants her works to simply reflect her joy of drawing and her use of analogue drawings, regardless of subject matter or materials used.

Yann Kebbi. I’ve been his fan for a while now and I never loved someone else’s work as much as I love his! I love his playful and such diverse and skillful use of analogue materials in experimental ways.
It isn’t a single location, but rather the new places I visit. For example, my recent one-month residency in Busan or my trip to Rome last summer. The observational drawings I make in these new environments reflect what intrigues me, capturing my perspective as an Asian girl who has spent a lot of time studying broad in western countries. Sometimes, I even see my home country differently even though I’m Korean. I often look back at my sketchbook for inspiration, as it serves as a reference for many of my works.
The most notable object is my most recent sketchbook, which I carried with me in London. The pages not only capture the essence and memory of a place, people, and time but also often serve as references and a foundation for other projects or larger works. It also reminds me of how much I enjoy drawing intuitively.
