Crossing two generations, I was born at the end of the Baby Boomer generation, raised by parents who grew up in the 50’s. They taught me to value personal responsibility, humility, hard work, family values and domestic perfection. In contrast, the Hippies of the 60’s and 70’s valued leisure. They questioned authority and redefined the notion of perfection as freedom, peace, love, flower power, inclusion, social liberalism and a focus on self.
Both generations reached for idealist paradigms in different ways and shaped my ongoing inquiry into ideas about my everyday observations about place, utopia and how to give form to life’s poetry and paradox.
We've carefully curated a selection of works from each artist that showcases their skill and distinctive voice. Explore their creations and discover the inspiration behind each piece.

Lots of artists are now part of The Art Post collective. We will try to find an artist who is best suited for your project or commission. If you know who you would like to commission, feel free to specify the artists' name in the form.
We're asking artists to choose one notable person, place and object that has inspired them in their journey so far. We're mapping inspiration at a scale never attempted before
I grew up in a project-centered household with parents who exposed me to art and culture. My mother was an amateur painter. Each summer she took a painting class, and I would tag along. I saw images materialize as she and the other students painted a simple still life. And my father was an amateur photographer. In his basement darkroom I would move exposed photo paper from tray to tray, again watching as black and white images appeared. They were both makers in their own ways.
Summers spent on the Long Island Sound in Clinton, Connecticut, connected me to the ocean landscape. The spatial quality of the horizon and sparkling light on the water are consistent sources for me.
There are too many! If I have to pick just one I would say Henri Rousseau's painting "Sleeping Gypsy".
